One could spend weeks in Suzhou without scraping surface of the city’s rich cultural history. Understandably, first time visitors to the Jiangsu province gem are a little overwhelmed by both the size of the city and the numerous attractions.

Thanks to the Suzhou subway system, which opened in 2012 and has been expanding ever since, the ranges of wonderful attractions are more accessible than ever before. Metro Line 4, which opened on April 15, following an investment of about 36 billion yuan ($5.23 billion) opens the city up ever more to exploring. Here we run through some of the best sites that are just a hop, skip, and a jump from the brand spanking new line’s stations.
