Traveling to Zhouzhuang gives tourists refuge away from the hustle and bustle in urban life thanks to the absence of an incessant stream of vehicles and industrial equipment. It could be said that local residents lead a slow life here, as if they’re withdrawn from the secular world.

"Zhouzhuang is a national treasure," says Bei Yuming, commonly known as I. M. Pei, a world famous Chinese-American architect.

Wu Guanzhong, a renowned contemporary Chinese painter widely recognized as a founder of modern Chinese painting, praised Zhouzhuang as the most typical and best representative of China’s water towns while Mount Huang is one of the most spectacular mountains in China.
